I have an iMac (17" flat panel) in for repair - they are replacing the disk drive. All my user files are backed up including iTunes.

What I would like to do this weekend is to "pre-install" 10.4 and all of my software apps (MS Office, Adobe products, Quicken, etc.) on a firewire drive (separate partition) attached to my PB. Then, when the iMac is ready I could use SuperDuper to "restore" from the firewire drive where I "pre-installed" everything. It would be a very quick operation.

What I would like to know -- will the OS that was installed from a PB automatically adjust for the iMac -- i.e., different video card, etc. Would there be any other issues?

Thanks - Rob

Standard Installs of OSX can run any computer.

What you are planning to do should work.
