I know there was an old security exploit to gain access to OS X (10.2?) by killing the screen saver to bypass the password lockout, is there any such thing for 10.3?

You see, my bt wireless keyboard is not connecting anymore so I'm locked out of my mac. No, it's not the batteries either, I think it just needs to be paired with the computer again is all. Anyway, I don't have a usb keyboard to get back in and pair the wireless one, only my mouse works. I can ssh in and try to kill the ScreenSaver process, but then the login window appears (SecurityAgent is the process name). If I kill that, the screen saver restarts.
Can I prevent the login window from starting up when I kill the screen saver so that I can get back to my desktop?

This is all assuming that a mouse is all I need to pair my keyboard again...and that pairing it is all that I need to do to get it working again.

Any other suggestions? And no I can't just power cycle it because the main login window will appear when it boots and I'll be worse off than I am now. Besides, I don't want to lose my 111 day uptime

Thanks for any help!

It might be too late to install more software but if you could remote desktop instead of SSH you could type your password with the other computer. So, SSH/FTP a remote desktop app (I use desktop transporter) over and launch it (navigate to it and then its something like open -a appname).

Good luck!

Well I was able to borrow a usb keyboard and get back in. Re-pairing the wireless keyboard did the trick and I'm back in action. Additionally, a mouse is all you need to do the pairing, just in case this happens to anyone else. Still not sure if there is any way to get around the screen saver bit, I suppose you can consider that a good thing.
Cheers all.
