Hi, guys,

I have a macro virus problem in my MS Word 2004. BTW, I'm using Tiger 10.4.2. It happened when I opened a doc file my friend sent to me. A window notifying me a macro popped out. I probably clicked "Enable Macros" something like that. Now every word doc I create, it has a macro virus in it. People are hating me when I send my doc to them. What should I do? Thanks if you know how to help.

Blow out the "Normal" template in the following location...

Macintosh HD/Users/User_Name/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Normal

Restart Word, so it will then create a fresh, new, and clean "Normal" template.

Problem resolved?

Thanks a lot. It works great. Now I guess I'll just have to copy and paste my old docs into new files. Thanks again.

Now tell your friend that the doc he sent you had the macro virus in it and that he should do something about it. And NEVER say "Enable Macros" unless you really, really, REALLY know what the macro does and you really, really, REALLY trust whoever you got the doc/xls/etc. from.

We very recently had a long discussion about viruses and Macs. There are no active MacOS viruses in the wild that anyone knows of. BUT any MS Office installation can be hurt or at least stopped by a macro virus, so pay attention to anything you didn't personally create.

Damn virus writers!
