Hello all,

I think I have a new problem, that has really only been seen by a few.

I recently installed the security update 2005-08. After install, mounting either of my two external drives causes the finder to hang. A finder relaunch does nothing. If I force a shut down and restart , the exact same problem occurs again. After I force the machine to shut down, if I unplug the drives, and reboot everything is fine. Plug the drives in and the finder hangs, and they can not be unmounted. The real head scratcher is that my firewire ipod works fine, and can be unmounted and searched by spotlight.

I have repaired permissions from both utilities and install disc. I have also used several cache utilities to empty caches, cookies, and run the cron jobs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

-j

Were the drives mounted when you installed the update?

No, I never leave anything mounted or plugged in during an update...I have made that mistake before. They mount with no problems on my 10.3 sawtooth, but I would like to be teathered to my pb.

I would hate to have to do an archive install, but... I need to get at those docs.
