In Unix, there is a file /etc/passwd, which stores user information such as user name, password and lognin shell. (There is a shadow file as well).
However, I couldn't find my user inforation in /etc/passwd on Mac. Can anyone explain to me where and how Mac houses my username and passwd?
Many thanks.

You can use NetInfo Manager to change it, among other things.
I believe OS X does things with XML files, though don't quote me. I'm a Linux convert and I've been confused by things being moved around as well.

Yes, it's in the NetInfo database (which is stored in the Berkeley DB binary format, I believe). You can change the information through OS X's normal channels, through command line tools like passwd, chsh, and chfn, or in the NetInfo Manager app.

niutil, nicl, or dscl are all command line utilities that can be used to modify netinfo or directory services. The app is a bit easier, though.
