Hey, trying to create some networked folders for some MAC PC's they are running OSX and OS9.

I am running SuSE Linux 9.3. I am goin to use Samba to share these folders i am going to create. We are all on the same Domain. What is the command to mount a networked folder? i know in Linux it is /mnt, is that the same in MAC or is it differant entirely?

Any information would be great help, thank you.

Are you sure, you've done this before? /mnt is not the command which mounts a volume, it is the mount point. You also don't need to mount the shares on your Linux machine, as I think you want the Linux machine to be your server.

I would suggest you take a look at Samba By Example, also available as .pdf.

However OS9 cannot access Windows shares by itself, you will need to get an extra software, OS X will work fine (since it also uses samba). So you have to either switch to OS X completely or buy extra software or use netatalk which should be included in your Linux distro as well.

It depends on how you're sharing the folders. If you're using samba you should try using smbmount. /mnt is just the location where the drive will be mounted in. All devices are usually in /mnt or at least linked from there.

If the machine is the server, he doesn't have to mount anything with the command line on Linux.

Just look in the network folder - if you've shared it right it should be in there. kind of like "network neighborhood" or whatever on windows

you can use smb command line tools in the terminal if you want to poke around manually but that shouldn't be needed.
You can take the dude out of So Cal, but you can't take the dude outta the dude, dude!
