First I installed X11. Then I downloaded and installed fink 0.8.0. Then I downloaded and installed AquaEthereal. When I click on AquaEthereal and input my password, X11 opens but nothing happens and I'm left with a prompt. My .profile file seems to be correct with this line...

test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh

Also when I type in ethereal at the prompt nothing happens. I get a command not found. When I input /sw/bin/ethereal I get this error...

ScottyDs-PB:~ scottyd$ /sw/bin/ethereal

(ethereal:1863): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Can not open pixbuf loader module file '/
sw/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders': No such file or directory

render_pixmap_and_mask_for_colormap): assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

# * (ethereal:1863): WARNING **: No builtin or dynamically loaded modules were found. Pango will not work correctly. This probably means
there was an error in the creation of:
'/sw/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You may be able to recreate this file by running pango-querymodules.

(ethereal:1863): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 1561 (g_object_r

# * (ethereal:1863): CRITICAL **: file pango-engine.c: line 68 (_pango_engine_sha pe_shape): assertion `PANGO_IS_FONT (font)' failed

# * ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed: (glyphs->num _glyphs > 0)

Can anyone help?

Regards,
Mullet

I found the answer to my question here....

http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...14@.68be8dbf/2

It turns out that I had to update a few packages because of a bug with the current version of Ethereal.

Mullet
