10.4.3 broke apple spell how do i get apple spell back?

by "apple spell" i mean the feature that would allow you to right click (or control click) any misspelled word and in the menu you would see a list of possible options. in apple apps like mail you would get a litte red dotted line under words that were misspelled, this is also gone.

how can i get this back. i am sooooo angry apple to this away without warning that it would go away.

that didnt work, but i was able to get back by removing the pref. folder in the user library.
