Hey all, I've got a G4 533 PowerMac with a 17" ADC CRT Studio Display, GeForce2MX 32 MB, 512 MB ram running 10.4.2..

Upon booting, I'm getting a screen that alternated between Aqua blue and black, with a working mouse/pointer.

I ran Disk Utility from the Tiger install disk, and it found "overlaying files" or somesuch, and an Error message "The underlying task reported failure on exit". It could not repair the disk.

I booted from the Disk Warrior 3.0.3 CD and it said it repaired the problem.

I still get the blue screen/black screen, but it's also showing this checkerboard image:

I first get the grey Apple screen, then the little black "ticking wheel".. that continues until it goes to the blue/black/checkerboard thing, and I've let it go for a few minutes without ever seeing the desktop.

I have multiple partitions and two hard drives, so I installed a fresh Tiger on another drive, this is how I'm typing this. I need to be able to boot from my main system on the drive I'm trying to access.

This disk IS mounted on the desktop and I can access all files on it.

If there's anything I've left out let me know, I'll report back with more details if necessary.

Thank you!

edit, I can also select this system as the Startup Disk under System Preferences, but then I get this screen upon restart.
