A few weeks ago, all of a sudden, Preview began to load at startup. After upgrading to 10.4.3 Preview still loads at startup and restart. I cannot find anything in startup items that would account for this.
Then, about a week ago, a game called Jig Words also started opening every time the iMac G5 started up. I cannot find anything that would account for this. I have taken it off the machine and loaded brand new copies and it makes no difference - it still loads and launches at startup.

Anybody have any suggestions. I can't find any help for this problem.

And you have verified that those programs are not listed as Login Items within the Accounts pane of System Preferences?

Click and hold on the icon of the program on the Dock and UNcheck the "Start application at login" selection.

A-r-r-r-g-h! Thank you! I am embarrassed! I forgot all about the user's prefeences for login items. I guess I just took my wife's word that she had done nothing to cause the problem. I should have thought of it though because it did not happen when I logged into her computer using my account.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

I had ical opening in panther at startup, when I went to tiger I could not figure out how to stop it from opening. There were some subtle differences in the system preferences. Just highlighting and hitting delete removed ical from the startup list.

Thanks. sw.
