My Finder (10.4.3) has recently slowed to a crawl when opening folders, files, renaming files/folders, etc. It did not use to do this. Even with folders with a few files, everything slows to a drag. I have repaired permissions, restarted, etc, but same thing happens.

Is this a problem with my installation, or perhaps my HD is dying? All other apps accesses my files fine and fast, so I don't think it's my HD.

Thanks!

Create a new account, see if you get the same results. If you do, backup your stuff and reformat your had drive and reinstall OS X. If you encounter errors during the install chances are its the hard drive. If your new user account works fine then is a bad user account which has happened to me before.

Try emptying your system caches using cocktail or CLIX. You have to restart after you do that.
