My parents are running OS X 10.2.8 on their Cube, and I would love to upgrade them to Tiger, but of course their model doesn't have a DVD drive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have another Mac and a firewire cable, just put the Cube in Target Disk Mode and install Tiger that way.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/

See the "media exchange program" at the right-hand side.

You send them the Tiger DVD, $20, and the proof-of-purchase update coupon, and they send you Tiger on four CDs.

Simple.

As another option checkout Cubeowner.com they have specials to purchase DVD drives through OWC. Adding a DVD will certainly add to the longevity of your cube.

Actually, I found I had to do it the other way-- I put the Tiger DVD in my Powerbook, then booted it in Target Disk mode, while attached to my QS tower. The DVD showed up on the desktop of the tower, and I was able to run the installer.

The other option is to pull the drive and put it in a tower that has a DVD drive, run the install, then return it to the Cube. I upgraded an iMac G3 this way.
