I installed scribus through Fink and was presented with two alternatives to satisfy the Ghostscript dependencies. I chose the default selections, which were ghostscript (v. 8.51-1) and ghostscript-fonts (v 6.0-3). Everything in Fink is up to date.

Every time scribus launches, I receive the following error:

The following Programs are missing:

Ghostscript: You cannot use EPS Images.
If Ghostscript is installed, along with all of the other required and optional dependencies, what exactly is "missing?"

Is there a reason you didn't just grab the aqua version with dependant libraries included?

Preferences -> External Tools.

GS wasn't being found at the right path. It's working now.

I thought I'd post a tip regarding this issue for the archives:

The option to change the path to Ghostscript is in the External Tools section of Scribus preferences.

Fink: The path to Ghostscript by default in Scribus is simply gs. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. You'll need to ensure that the correct path is /sw/bin/gs otherwise you will receive the error I reposted in the OP.

Aqua version: Already stated in TFM, but here it is again:
/Library/Frameworks/Ghostscript.framework/Versions/8.50/bin/gsc
