The title says it all really: The time has come for my annual clean install, but when I boot using the install CD I lose my mouse control - any ideas, or do I have to borrow a mouse with a tail?

coz it takes me a couple of hours (while i watch a dvd) and the 'puter is cleaner & snappier afterwards
