Safari > Preferences > General (Tab) > Default Web Browser: Select FireFox from the pull-down menu

What rickey said. Perhaps one of the dumber moves by Apple to set the default browser under a Safari preference option.

I agree, it's very "Microsoft'ish"...the default e-mail application is the same way and must be changed within Mail.app. I remember when these preferences were placed in System Preferences (which just makes sense) in the earlier days of OS X.

You don't need to do this in Safari. You can as well do it with Firefox->Preferences->General->Standard Browser.

Agreed. The Internet preference pane should have been spared.

I agree as well. It is a very un-intuative place to put this preference. Shame how iSync was mutilated as well. A clear step in the wrong direction for 10.4 while the rest was damn worthwhile upgrade from 10.3.

cheers
