I am a new mac user. I recently obtained a .dmg file which is supposed to contain 3 programs. It mounts fine, but there is just one file inside which, when I Get info, says there are three files inside of it.

It is set up to launch the disk utility. I've tried everything I can think of (Restore, First Aid, Convert) to try and get to the three files that are supposedly inside this larger file.

I just don't get it. What to do?

Possibilities:
1. There's only one file you need to know about on the disk image. The other two are hidden files used by the system.
1.a. You're wrong about there being 3 applications in it, or
1.b. The one file is an installer that installs 3 applications.
2. There are three files you need to know about on the disk image, but the window is poorly sized. Make the window bigger, or switch it to list mode.

Restore, First Aid, and Convert have nothing to do with this situation, and wouldn't have helped anyway.

what happens when you doble click on the item inside the disk image. it may be a compressed file which needs stuffit expander todecompress. If you don't have expander you need to install it first
If I had a signature, it would look something like this
