On my Power Mac, I've noticed all my pdf documents have taken on Adobe icons.
My Power Book shows no such behavior. Can someone tell me why? Both are running
10.4.3 with latest security updates.

Your PowerMac is set to open PDF documents by Adobe Reader and your PowerBook is set to open PDF documents by Preview. Or am I missing something in your question?

No, but it looks like I have. I don't remember resetting any system preference. All my pdf docs have taken the Adobe icon. Where exactly is the preference setting for the default PDF reader?

Select one PDF file in the Finder and do File->Info. In the Info dialog there is an "Open with" section. Choose the PDF viewing program you want then click the "Apply to all" button to apply this setting to all files of this type (and not just that particular one).

To change it back, click once on a file and go File > Get Info

Then in the Open With section, change this to preview and then hit "Change All"

A logout/login will be required to refresh the icons however.
