Here's one - recently files have been moved from one Windows File Server to an EMC SAN (SMB format) and as a result, their associated applicatons have been removed. It's important to note that prior to the move the file extensions were not of the normal type (.jpg, .gif, .tif) but created by the users to show the stages of the file (completed, editing, etc.). The strange thing is that even with these non-standard extensions, Tiger was able to open these files in their respective applications while on the File Server, but after the migration is when the associations were lost. It's a mystery to me why they worked in one spot and now, suddenly, they don't. Also, does anyone know any way to to batch re-associate the files to their proper applications/extensions?
