Hi guys, bit of a noob here with a strange problem. I went through 3 computers and added $$'s to the admin password. When I was done I tried to log into it and it kept saying my password was wrong, when I knew it was right! All of them did the same thing. I was still logged into one and tested it by creating an account with just $$'s as a password and tried logging in with it and again it would say my password was wrong! Made one with plain text and it worked perfectly.
Anyone seen something like this? I know one system is running 10.3.9 but not so sure about the others. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think the OS likes having non alphabetic characters in the passwords. I don't know too many systems that allow this. Its unfortunate that it accepted it in the first place.

Works for me. Are you sure you are using the correct keyboard layout at the login screen?

I just tested a password with an @ symbol in it.
It works fine on two different computers running 10.4.3

I have used computers running 10.2 and 10.3 with various characters such as %, ! etc. in the password and they have worked fine.

Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND???
Give me a break. I have used non-alpha chars in passwords for 20 years in all manner of systems.

If you're now locked out of your computer, you can use the Mac OS X disc to reset the password.
Boot from the disc by holding down the C key and then look in the menus at the top when it loads and find reset admin password.

If he is locked out of his computer, how did he post on here in the first place...
He could be using a friends or an internet café etc.
