I have a number of network volumes set to mount when I login. Is there a way to stop each one from opening in a new finder window when I login? I'd prefer to have none open at all. I setup the login by dragging the volumes from the desktop to the "login items" list. Is there another way?

Thanks

Tim

In Finder/Preferences/general do you have the item 'always open folders in new window' checked? I do not and everything appears nicely on the desktop with no new windows.

Nope. this box is unchecked. Again. The finder windows open whenever I'm mounting network volumes (at startup or not). It's just a pain when I've got 8 volumes mounting when I'm logging in, and I don't need to see any of them.

That will not help. Somebody in a town called "Cupertino" has to change some lines of code to eliminate this very behavior.

I ended up writing an AppleScript for one of my users to get around that annoying behavior. For whatever reason when you mount a volume via AppleScript it doesn't open it up in a new window automatically.
