Screen saver coming up set on NEVER

I surprised to see my screen-saver on when came back from hour away from computer, when I have it set to NEVER. 10.4.3 any ideas appreciated. thanks.

Do you have a hot corner set up, which your cursor could have slipped to? Probably you would have spotted that when you left the computer, but checking for the obvious

Perhaps you should TRY typing "hot corner" into the
search box in System Prefs and see what comes up...

You can assign the corners of your screen to do things, such as trigger Exposé, or start the screen saver. When you drag your mouse cursor into such a corner and leave the it there, things happen.
See System Preferences >Screen Saver and click the 'Hot corners...' - button to see if there are any set up.

thanks, checked it out and hot corners has nothing to do with this. The screen saver comes up after the computer has been on without activity for a short while -- even though the slider is set to Never.
