I wanted to temporarily get rid of the Spotlight menu in the right hand corner of the screen, so I deleted the Search.bundle file from the System's CoreServices folder.

Does anyone have a backup copy of the Search.bundle file, so that I can get the Spotlight menu, as well as the Spotlight window to work again?

You can probably extract it from your OS X installation disc using Pacifist.

And for future reference, you can turn off Spotlight cleanly by using a utility like Spotless, but there is no safe way to remove the menu itself.

And why would you think that deleting something would somehow be "temporary?" If you're going to do something like that you should probably keep a backup copy

i got to agree with the above poster if u have difficult getting from ur install disk then go here
