Hey All.

Ever since I upgraded to 10.4.3 I've had increasing issues. My Rig is a Dual 2.5 G5, stock, except I've got 1.5 gigs of RAM.

When I upgraded to 10.4.3 my fans started going crazy at odd, random times, and I started getting long pauses (freezes) in booting and doing the odd task like checking for email. (Using Mail.)

In the console, I keep seeing Disk I/O timeouts and errors, but only doing certain things, checking for mail using Mail for example. The odd thing is, Entourage works fine.

I've reset the open firmware, fsck'd myself to death, repaired permissions, done disk utility, etc. S.M.A.R.T is verified, and everything else has reported "ok".

My intuition is telling that the HD is fine, and that this is a software issue. Anybody have any ideas? I'll gladly post more info if anybody is interested in helping.

Thanks!

Hmmm. My iMac G5's fans have been extremely loud since 10.4.3 has come out, but I haven't had any problems like you are describing. I would go to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...1042combo.html to download 10.4.2 and see if that fixes the problem. Good luck.
