Strange "Open With" Bug

Suddenly, whenever I try to open a movie file (and possibly other types), I get the following "Open with" menu:
QuickTime Player (default)
EyeTV
EyeTV
EyeTV
Grapher
iTunes
iTunes
QuickTime Player
RealPlayer
RealPlayer
RealPlayer
VLC
VLC
VLC
This may have something to do with my external hard drive (which had an extra copy of each), but it is now disconnected and this is happening.
And I only have one copy of all of these applications.
Any help would be great!

I noticed that duplicate issue after using SuperDuper. So I asked Dave Nanian, the developer, if he had insight. His reply:
"The reason you see multiple items, after using SuperDuper!, is because you're creating new copies of the applications (on the backup). Since the paths to these applications are different, LaunchServices puts them in again."
I presume this is also the case with CCC.
As Rickey said, Rebuilding the Launch Services Database with Cocktail or similar utility (OnyX???) is a solution.
There is also a Terminal command for this, but I don't know what it is.

Well, I do use SuperSuper. That's annoying that the launch services database doesn't change when an external HD is disconnected.

This also just recently started happening to me. Wonder if some recent update might have hosed the open with... database?
