There seems to be a few cd's that just will not play on my G4 - eg Missy Higgins / Matchbox 20. Can't play / can't import. Help would be appreciated.

Chances are, they're defective CDs. Whether the music label made them like that on purpose is another matter, but I suggest returning them and getting the music you want via iTMS, Allofmp3, or from a friend.

yes, either with another computer or an external drive connected to your powermac. often a "CD" that doesn't worrk on one brand or type of optical drive will have no problems on a different drive.

well, that won't help you get the music onto your computer. if you have another optical drive that you can connect to your powermac, try the discs in it.
