my mac, which i just got, has OS 9 and i wanted to upgrade
unfortunately i cannot get OSX no later than february and i was wondering? will Apple still make versions of OSX for PowerPC processors?

Yes. Most of their products still run on PowerPC processors. I expect they'll continue to make PowerPC versions of OS X for a couple more years.

Yes, they've only released two lines, the MacBook and the iMac. If you go to the Apple Store then you'll see Powerbooks, iBooks, PowerMacs all being sold. The "Legacy" OSX will continue to be released. I suspect that the next major revision of OSX may contain both binaries. The tranistion will be slow but steady.

Apple (and most other OS/Software vendors) generally provide support for up to 5 years. Eg, Apple have provided Classic for OS X for 5 years.

I suspect they will continue to provide updates to OS X for PPC for up to 5 years (and probably for most of their other software too.

If they didn't do that, then there would be mutiny when all their customers who bought PPC Macs in 2005 or 2006 would not be able to buy updated software for their near new machines.
