Hello everybody,
I know this may be a long shot, but I had to put this out there. I was wondering if someone out there might have the Shut Down Desk Accessory that came with the Performa series (maybe 575?) in System 7.1. It was a DA you could put in the Apple Menu to shut down the computer. It had a switch in the icon too. I just wanted to use this with my Powerbook in OS 9.
Please PM me if you have it, and I wanted to ask if someone could send it to me.
-Thanks a million.

You can make your own with AppleScript.
In Script Editor, type
tell application "Finder" to shut down
Save it as a compiled application (name it "•Shut Down"), and put that in the Apple Menu Items folder. It won't have the fancy icon that the Performa application had, but it's a lot simpler.

Thanks Person Man,
I'll have to try that. Does the Applescript run faster than the DA would? I've never really had a need to make an Applescript before.
About Applescripts, if I wanted to check say Yahoo mail online, could I make a script to go to the site, turn on cookies, type my name and password and sign on? Also can I make another script to log off as well?
-Thanks.

if you save it as an application it should run very fast.
I expect the app in the apple menu actually was just an applescript with a custom icon resource.
By the way I don't think it was a desk accessory (although it acted like one), they turned them all into apps with System 7.
