how do I change the MTU value on OS 10.4 i tried what said in here but didn't work on os 10.4 any other ideas ?

I'm not on my mac at the moment, but im pretty sure wither Onyx of TinkerTool have the option to change the MTU. As usualy check MacUpdate.com for both of the above files
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

What is the exact purpose of this maximum transmission unit? I mean definition

You don't need TinkerTool. It's in the network Prefs.

System Prefs > Networking > Select relevant interface (e. g. Ethernet). Select the tab `Ethernet' and select `Manual' in the Configuration pop-up menu. You can change the MTU there.

Thank u. it's works great

it's just that my router is set 1458 and, computer that have a MTU over that amount can't access some sites.
