hi

Iam trying to direct a domain name to my website running on my Powermac which has a constant internet connection

the address it says to access my webserver is http://powermacs-computer.local/macbreaking/

when I type it into my web browser the site shows up correctly

however if somebody on the web tries to acccess it - it doesn't work

Am I using the right address?

part of your issue could be that the address ends in .local. perhaps if you change that to .com or .org, or what ever your site is, it might work. also, what are you running as a your webserver?

Heh, powermacs-computer.local is the name of your computer on the local network. You need to register a domain and point it to your IP address.

In the meantime (before registering domain) you could provide access using your internet ip address (see bambam's sig). If you are using a router, you'll need to forward outside http requests to your mac's subnet ip (the ip your router gives your mac).
