Has anyone had any success using USB 2.0 PCI cards under 10.4.4? I am interested to know if you can get the Mac to go into deep sleep and wake up again when there is something (like an iPod) connected to the card.

Many Thanks

When my (officially supported) PowerBook is in deep sleep, the only thing that will wake it up is pressing the power button. Deep sleep is a power-off state, so I doubt USB events would be recognized.

Since you mentioned a PCI card, I assume the machine in question is a PowerMac. If so, why do you want deep sleep anyway? The machine is connected to mains power all the time (I imagine) ... what's wrong with leaving it on or in 'normal' sleep?

I have a USB 2.0 card in my sawtooth, and deep sleep has never worked if anything (except USB 1.1 devices) is plugged into it. Mind you, I don't think I've tried it since the upgrade, because I've just got used to unplugging things.

Barney.

P.S. to Tesseract: For my machine and similar ones, deep sleep is normal sleep. However, if you put in an old PCI card which doesn't support "power off mode", they go into shallow sleep, which leaves the PCI powered up and the fan on.
