Hi.

I'm a recent switcher to the Apple platform, and am just getting to grips with the OS. I've been learning a few of the keyboard shortcuts to make life a lot easier, but I was just wondering whether you more experienced users, could maybe dedicate this topic to providing some very useful keyboard shortcuts to streamline the use of OS X.

For example, keyboard shortcuts to shut down the OS, keyboard shortcuts not commonly known of, keyboard shortcuts for adding *.com/*.co.uk in Safari, etc.

Thank you.

Apple has a good article on this topic: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75459

Also check out TigerWiki at http://www.tigerwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page

My favorite keyboard trick would be cmd-clicking anything in Safari. IE 5 started this and Safari has extended it further. For example, if you're submitting a form and are worried about losing the data if the server burps, just cmd-click the 'submit' button to open the resulting page in a new tab/window. Same goes for the Google search field, the adress bar, links, back button, bookmarks etc. - you might just have to hit cmd-return, if it's not a button.

Verbose Mode, instead of showing the screen with the progress bar that says "Starting OS X" or whatever, shows a screen of text that tells exactly what is being done ("Starting automount daemon; Scanning IOKit nodes; 1027 devices found;" — that sort of thing).
