My dad forgot what he made the Admin. password, so basically I can't install/remove any programs from the Applications folder. I saw some posts that said just put in the Mac OS X disk and change the password, but when it loads up it looks like its going to Reformat the computer. Does it reformat my computer? And erase all the files on my computer? Or..does it just re-install Mac OSX and let me make a new password.

boot from disk 1.
go to the menubar, select utilities (something like that).
there's an option to reset the password.
follow the steps, do just that.

then quit the installer, restart.

that's it.
