Is it just me, or is onyone else getting annoyed by the OS's apparent inability to remember the window positions of apps?

I may be browsing the web, then go to mail, which will be fullscreen. Then I do something else with a different app, and then select mail again. The window then appears half way down the screen, and not fullscreen as it was before.

This happens with iTunes as well. It's very annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this at all? Or am I alone here?

Any help appreciated!!

The OS doesn't remember window positions. Applications do that themselves. And if they fail to, it's the application's fault, not that of the OS. I'm not aware of a mail application that is fullscreen (and neither do I understand why anybody what want that, but whatever). Complain to the maker of that application that it doesn't position its window correctly. iTunes remembers its window positions just fine for me.

Can't say I've experienced these problems with applications – Finder (a k a "Sidebar heaven") be the name of my scourge. They're like a virus.

The only app I have this problem with is Safari. I can't think of a single other app I use on a day to day basis which exhibits that behavior.

I bought and used a Lenovo ThinkPad for about a week. That was a major annoyance on Windows. In any case, the ThinkPad went back from where it came. I instead bought a bunch of RAM for my G5 iMac and 12" PowerBook. They'll be like new again soon.

If you want Safari to remember your window position you need to open a new window, arrange it as wanted, then close it. If you use that window i think it won't remember the positions. From then on it should open new windows like your old one.

You can't eat all those hamburgers, you hear me you ridiculous man?

Cocoa includes a feature to autosave window positions - most apps use it, since it's just one line of code to use. If that feature doesn't work, try trashing the prefs file and try again.
