At one point in the not-too-distant past my Soundsticks were much louder than they are now. Now it seems that I have to crank up the iTunes pre-amp almost as high as it will go to match the volume I used to be getting.
Did an OS X update cause this? Is there a fix that you know of? Any shareware/freeware that will boost sound volume?

Well at some point in iTunes they changed the way the volume slider works, I think it used to be linear, now it's an exponential curve. But that was a while ago, like v4.x or something.
Fisherking, he said he was using Soundsticks. Do those connect VIA USB? I'm sure you double-checked the volume settings on your Mac?

USB Soundsticks indeed... volume settings are fine.
Perhaps I'm just imaging things, I have no real information to present here that would aid in troubleshooting, I was just wondering if this is a documented problem.
