As the title mentions, I have stuff in library folder I'm trying to locate but using spotlight, it fails to find it. For instance I wanted to find all references to kodak to delete the print driver and reinstall it. Typing kodak in the spotlight search box fails to bring up /Library/Printers/Kodak. (I had to manually find them).
Any ideas how to increase the search capabilities of spotlight?

I often need to locate items in either the /Library or ~/Library folders.
I have just switched to Tiger and I am still getting used to Spotlight.
Typing a search term into the Spotlight menu bar field for an item that I know is in the /Library does seem to return the proper results...

There are some files and folders that Spotlight is programmed not to search. I don't know what they all are, so there might be some of those types of files inside the Library folders. I think this is completely stupid because Spotlight is supposed to "Find Anything. Anywhere." Bullsh*t. I've complained about this ever since Tiger came out and keep hoping that this is changed (I avoid using the word 'fixed' because Apple probably does this purposefully - not a bug) every time a new Tiger update is released. I guess not that many people see this as a problem for some reason so the Mac's search scope remains limited.

In System Prefereces -> Spotlight, make sure you have the type of categories you want to search for checked off. In that same window there's a tab called "privacy". Click it and make sure you don't have anything listed that would contain a document you're looking for.
Good luck!

Nothing is selected in the privacy tan and there doesn't seem a way to add a category in the search results tab.

Just do a Finder search--it's using spotlight anyway. Open a window to your Library and type Kodak into the search field. It will work.

Actually, it looks like some items on /Library are found with Spotlight while others (such as some driver files) are not.
Even a Finder search from from the folder's Search window does not seem to return results for printer drivers (ending in .plugin).
