Hi,
I noticed when I got my quad that it came with Front Row in core services. This doesnt mean I'm able to use Front Row, but it is there....Does Apple have plans on releasing Front Row to all models? I wonder...

Eventually, I'm sure they do. From them adding it to the MacBook, it seems certain it isn't meant just to be limited to the iMac.

Yes, although I doubt it'll be released in any current PPC models.. only in future releases, when they move to Intel, or possibly later.

They've already got a PPC version, so they may as well release it.

There is, of course, a way to make it work on your PowerMac...

Yeah that's what you would hope... Seems to me to be a new incentive to get people to buy new Macs. Making it backwards compatable with other Macs, possibly via BT remote would make a lot of sense...
Ah well - we can only hope and wait.

Hey Cadaver: Yeah, I'm familiar with how you can enable it on other systems, but I was just thinking it was strange that apple would include it in core services when they dont need to. I guess its easier/cheaper to just include it in the OS, and then exclude the enabler program???
Unless what this means is that it will be easier for Apple to allow people to "Upgrade" to Front Row later down the road when they finally allow people to "install" it on their non-imac/Macbook machines...Sneaky marketing tactics maybe?

It now seems that, with the exception of the last G5 version of the iMac, all other Macs are gaining Front Row as they move forward to Intel.
This is one small thing I find really annoying. It would be easy as hell for Apple to sell Front Row as a stand-alone app and allow those without an IR port on their Macs to run it, but no. Seems this is one way for them to make money. Buy a new Mac! It has the great program called Front Row which won't run on your old Mac, but, by all means, it should!
Sigh...

Their is a secret behind Front Row that only takes you to notice, it uses apps loaded on your computer just using an interactive menu, when I listen to music iin Front Row, (used hack), iTunes is opened when I exit out of Front Row, that is how Apple does it.
