This is a fresh 10.4.4 install on a mac mini. My old system (on the internal drive) never did this. It's happening consistently. I've had 6 over the last few days.

I could just jump back to the internal, but it's awful slow. Any other ideas?

Thanks!!!

Looks like a hardware error, from something relating to Input/Output.

Are you running 10.4.4 from a external hard drive? Not sure if that is what you talk about in your last phrase. Seems the drive is having problems.

It's either the drive causing problems or the FireWire bus. Run the hardware test that came with the Mini and see what it reports.

I had something similar to this after i did a Wipe and Fresh install on a G4 QuickSilver mac.
I found out it was a 4 port usb/ 2 port firewire card that was added on the mac.

Thanks all!

eevyl: yup, sorry I wasn't clear, my system is on the external drive.

PJF: That's what I figured, wasn't sure what to do though, thanks for the advice!

Detrius: Yup. First place I looked. Definitely appreciative it's there.

I'll check the RAM with the hardware test since I need to do it for the drive. Do you really think it's RAM though? The log seems to point towards the drive, as does the fact it never happened until now.

The log does point towards the drive, and the fact that the original installation was on the internal also points to the external drive (or something along those lines), but until you have a definitive answer (i.e. you changed something and the problems went away), I wouldn't rule out RAM. Bad RAM is notorious for not showing up until a reinstall/upgrade.

The small amount of information that we have does point to your problem being something along your FireWire chain. The frequency of the KPs also points away from RAM (RAM problems tend to be very frequent, but this isn't true in all cases).
