I am having a very weird problem. Yesterday a small blue circle appeared on the desktop, it looks like any Aqua button, I can move it around with the mouse, an it even shows some rollover response. But I can not get rid of it. It floats over all applications.

Does anyone know what this is? Do I have a virus? How can I get rid of this thing?

Thank you

It's commonly called the Expose Blob. It's a hidden feature that some applications can enable. If you knew which one you used to put it there, you could probably use that to turn it off, but I assume you don't, so we can do it the normal way.

Open the application Terminal in /Applications/Utilities. Copy and paste the following line in and hit return:

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-floater -bool false

After that, copy and paste this and hit return:

killall Dock

It should then be gone.

Well, thankyou ...

A hidden feature that really looks like a bug ...

I suppose "Cocktail" activated this annoying thing. Again Thanks

Yeah, that's why it's hidden. Glad you got it fixed, anyway. (And yeah, it probably was Cocktail. That's one of the programs that can enable it.)
