Hey all,

1. Strange things are afoot w/CD burning since 10.4.3. Anyone else had this problem: Toast appears to be burning a disk fine, then, at the end, gives that "Illegal request" error which makes the disk useless? I've tried different media, I've tried different apps (Firestarter FX, Discblaze) and it seems to work _sometimes_, which makes me even more frustrated. I can't pin down the problem. Console just says:

Feb 2 18:23:45 mydisk kernel[0]: disk2: alignment error

What do you think - bad/incompatible media or a screwy drive?

2. While in the console, I see tons of this:

Feb 2 03:40:47 devil kernel[0]: Stealth Mode connection attempt to TCP 192.xx.xx.xx:61955 from 12.144.85.91:6881

- lots of different IPs trying lots of different ports -
is there something I should do with my firewall or router to get rid of this?

Any help appreciated! Thanks,

skel

- edited title for relevancy -
- make that "tried to" - it won't let me edit the title -

1. Bad media or bad drive? You tell us! You have to try different media to answer that question, and we can't do that for you.

2. Are those connection attempts causing any problems? Are the destination and source ports both always different, or is any part of the attempts constant? That can help track it down, though it's likely nothing to worry about.

P.S. Please read our general rules (linked at the top of every thread listing) -- there's even a section about choosing good thread titles (including explicitly prohibiting "noise" like "please help").

2. There doesn't appear to be any negative results from the constant stealth mode attempts. I looked up the port numbers on trojan lists and there's no correlation (from the few I looked up). I guess they're showing up in the console because "Enable Stealth Mode" is checked under "Firewall" in System Preferences.

Oh, oops. If different media give the same error, then it's either a software or hardware problem.

Software or hardware, eh...? Well, that narrows it down.
