I don't know what happened with the other thread...

It seems as though Apple hates keyboard shortcuts, like pressing D for Don't Save in dialogue boxes, and they've been adamant on removing this feature from pro apps as well.

This ticks me off,and all I can say is why?!?....
So I found another way around this annoyance that may not be news to some of you, so please, no timelines.

In the Keyboard System Preferences, look at Full Keyboard Access, then switch from 'Text boxes and lists only' to 'All Controls'. Exit the pane.

Now when confronted with a Don't Save/Save/Cancel, you can tab through the buttons and activate the one you want with the spacebar.

No but hitting command+d will do the same thing for Don't Save.

Thanks, I feel a little silly now.
However, making the changes in the Keyboard access allows the Spacebar to do the same thing without the extra work of pressing command.

To prevent people from accidentally hitting that combination and losing their work when that's not what they wanted. The theory is the same as the one behind those new window-opening levers on car doors, the type that are recessed such that you have to reach into a small hole and pull up to make the window go up. It's unlikely that this is ever going to occur unless someone means to do it, which is why it's considered a safer method of doing that.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!
