I'm trying to rename an item in my sidebar, and according to the sub-menu (right click) it is renamed, but in the sidebar itself, it shows the old name.
The original name of the folder is "Documents", and I'm trying to rename it to "Sites". A bit of background, the folder I'm putting in the sidebar is \library\webserver\documents. I want the sidebar alias to read "sites" or "web"... basically anything other than "Documents" so as not to confuse it with my actual documents folder. How can I do this?
In case my explanation is confusing, here's a screenshot of what I mean:
Thanks in advance.

Sheesh! Don't mess with it! The sidebar with its bugs and poofs is the suckiest interaction metaphor I've seen, and I do interaction design for a living. I actually lost my entire home folder by renaming it in the sidebar...

I almost screwed my website by trying the "rename" option in the menu, it renamed the actual folder, not the sidebar item.
yet again I hate the Finder.

This is good to know. I was thinking about doing this with a few things recently because the default Finder window size doesn't fit 4 icons across with the bar at normal width. I did try it with 'Favorites', putting a 'u' in it to get the spelling right , but it happily created me a new ~/Library/Favorites when I next logged in, so no harm done. Now I've gone back to having the bar show just the icons, which by the sounds of it is how I should keep it.
While we're on the subject though, is there any way to change the font size in the sidebar?

Make an alias to folder you want to be in sidebar, rename alias, drag alias to sidebar...
TaDa!

I tried the alias route, and all it does is once I drop it into the sidebar, it bypasses the alias name and renames it to the original folder's name.
