I just bought a new powerbook - it came with the Tiger Operating System - can I install that system as well onto my older Tower G4? I have no clue.

Nothing, technically, can stop you as far as protection schemes go. However, I believe you're only supposed to install it on one computer per license. It might be the case where you're only supposed to use one installation at a time, at which point two installations are fine, as long as only one is used at a time.

Actually, it depends on what you have. If the Tiger install disks are free-standing (that is, you just have the Tiger DVD), then yeah. You can install it. Apple doesn't exactly want you too, but since you can only install their OS on their hardware, they don't go out of their way to prevent you from doing it (they also offer a family pack for their OSes, which is 5 licenses for really cheap).

If you only have the OS on the software restore disks, it could be tricky to install—but I believe it can be done.

Instead of titling your thread "stupid question," please just ask the question so we know right away whether we can answer you or not.
