Previosuly I had 10.2.8 running on a 867 MHz Powerbook with a 16 MB built-in video card. Under that setup Classic ran just fine.

However, I have updated to 10.4.4, and after my upgrade to Classic 9.50 plus some of the extensions, I cannot get Classic applications to run smoothly. I guessing whatever most applications use for drawing (Qucikdraw?) and animation (Quicktime?) is the problem.

Whatever I am running skips and acts very jerky. However, when I reboot into 9, I have no trouble.

Has anyone else had or fixed this problem?

My guess would be that it's caused by the fact that Classic windows are buffered now, whereas they weren't in older versions of OS X. This means things will be a lot less ugly and you won't get the "painting over" effect when you drag an OS X window over a Classic window, but it also slows down Classic a bit.

I'm not sure if there's a way to turn the buffering off.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
