is there any way to run .bat files in mac OS?

Not as-is, but there is more than enough scripting capability by means of bash, perl, python, etc.

Do you have a .bat file that you want to use, or are you trying to write one?

.bat files use DOS commands. Mac OS X can use a wide variety of script languages, but DOS isn't one of them. The file would need to be written (re-written) in a shell script or PERL script or AppleScript, etc.

if nothing else, i can run it on my friends PC and then send myself the new .avi
