Has anyone tried an x86 livecd version of linux on the new intel macs? Such examples include knoppix, PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu. I imagine that it should work, your thoughts.

If I recall correctly, Ubuntu is the only distro that has a version working on the ICBMs. I don't think it's been "officially" released yet, and I don't know if they've gotten it Live yet, either. The older versions will not run, as the new Macs use a different boot loader (EFI) rather than the the standard PC BIOS. This is also why Windows XP won't run on the ICBMs.
