I have a major problem with classic mode in OSX, its not working.

Ok, well specifically when I go to start up classic (with extensions on or off- doesnt matter), one of two things will happen.

Either it will not start up all the way (it will get passed loading the extensions, go past the mac os9 logo) and the progress bar for classic mode (not OS9) will get to about 80% then stop. Nothing else will happen, and I have to force quit classic mode.

Or, sometimes it will appear to start up, but the moment I start a classic application it will load the application then immediately freeze (classic mode will freeze, need to be force quit'd- mac osx will not freeze).

I use classic mode at least once a day so the problem was a sudden cause (no new software installation, no hard drive problems, etc).

How does one go about fixing classic mode? Do I have to reinstall OSX?

Same way we fixed OS 9 problems when OS 9 was the primary OS... you reinstall OS 9. Yes, there are other methods, but people generally don't care to troubleshoot OS 9 in Classic, as you don't lose much of anything when you do a reinstall (especially if you have it configured to store the preferences in your home directory).
