Shared printing does not work after latest security update

It seems to me that after the latest security update (031606 - OSX 10.4.5) I no longer can print to a shared Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer connected via USB to a computer running OS X 10.3.9.

Could this be related to the update?
(Yes, I have repaired permissions....)
