I like the dock in general, but care for the bouncing animation when an application starts up. I think it would be much nicer if the icon could pulse with a color, like a light yellow mask, over the icon as it loads. I say leave the bouncing animation for when the program is running and wants attention. Any thoughts? Anyone know if that's even possible?

that should help with part of your post. I agree that dock bouncing is annoying however I find it particularly annoying when an app wants my attention. I am usually working and the bouncing is distracting and not so urgent that a red arrow instead of a black one wouldn't do the trick. Amazingly, one of the only apps I have seen with decent dock preferences is the official AIM client that lets you specify bounce once or continually for new IMs.

Does it work for you to just turn the bouncing off? The black triangle below the icon flashes instead of the bouncing. I set my Dock like this back in 10.1 (when I first really started using OS X) and haven't looked back.

That's in the system prefs? I'll check it out.

Thanks
