I'm fairly new to OSX , so this is for me and anyone else that is new to OSX. Hopefully this makes it as a sticky. Place you tech tips, small or large, about OSX here.

Well... if you're not having a problem,
you could always repair permissions!

I was actually going to post that, with an invisible "APRIL FOOL!" in the post, but I figured it was too close to midnight and wouldn't be April Fool's anymore in some timezones.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I hope you had a good laugh Charles
...you were my target audience there.

Lest Rumor think we're nuts, I will place
a real tech tip: backup, backup, backup.

I use ChronoSync and DataBackup... but
can highly recommend SuperDuper and
Carbon Copy Cloner as well.

My other tip would be to learn UNIX(BSD)
and to get comfortable with Terminal.app

Cheers.

This one may seems obvious to some, but I had to ask my roommate how to close an application that is hung up (full screen app, when you can't force quit through the drop down menu).

ctrl+option+Apple+esc
