Desktop Printing Won't Work

I created a Desktop Printer (under OS X 10.4.5, Motorola) and I dragged a bunch of PDFs to it, but the only file it lists for printing is the first of the group, and it suddenly changed to Jobs Stopped. I'm puzzled by this behavior, since nothing prints. Could the fact that it's a networked printer be part of the reason?
